Vazhe Privacy Policy

Vazhe (واژه) is an offline Finglish-to-Persian suggestion app with an optional keyboard extension, made for personal use on your device.

The short version

Vazhe collects nothing automatically and sends nothing automatically. What it remembers on its own — the suggestions you pick most, the words you commit often, and how you're doing in the Learn tab — stays on your device. Some of it expires on a timer, some of it stays until you clear it, and the only way Vazhe sends any of it anywhere is if you export it yourself.

The one exception is the optional in-app feedback form in the About tab or by flagging a result: if you choose to submit feedback, Vazhe sends your report to the developer. That is the only network call Vazhe ever makes, and it only happens when you explicitly tap Send.

What data we collect

Automatically — nothing

Vazhe has:

No automatic network access. The keyboard extension has no networking code and makes no connections of any kind. Everything the keyboard does runs entirely on your device. Your text never leaves it.
No automatic storage beyond suggestion memory. Vazhe does not keep a transcript of your text, your conversions, your keystrokes, or any history. The only thing remembered automatically is a small on-device memory of the suggestions you pick: a list of suggestion words you choose often (capped at 200, each entry expiring after 14 days) and which suggestion words you use next to each other (capped at 500 pairs, expiring after 30 days) so the keyboard can offer your own phrasing first. It holds the suggestions you tap and words you commit often — never your raw typing as you type it — it is deleted with the app, and Vazhe never transmits it anywhere. Two more things are remembered the same way, without any automatic expiry — words the keyboard notes when you commit them (it only starts suggesting one after you have used it twice, so a one-off typo never becomes a suggestion), and which Persian option you picked for a word you have typed before. Both are capped at 1,000 entries each; once you are over the cap, the ones you have not used in longest are dropped first. Neither expires on its own the way the lists above do. You can turn this learning off any time in the Vazhe app's About tab — existing learned words are not deleted when you do, they just stop growing — and "Clear learned words" in the same place deletes the automatically learned words whenever you want (your own My Words, snippets, and remembered picks are kept). These learned words are also included if you use "Export my dictionary" (see below) — that is the one way they can leave this device, and only because you asked for it.
No analytics, no tracking, no ads. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party code that could observe your activity.
No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no way to identify you.

My Words and Snippets

My Words and Snippets, if you use them, are stored the same way — on this device only, inside the shared keyboard/app store. Unlike the automatic memory above, these are yours to manage directly: add, view, and delete entries any time from the About tab. Neither has an automatic expiry — they last until you remove them.

Vazhe never sends any of this anywhere. If you want a copy, you can ask for one: "Export my dictionary" in the About tab writes a single file containing your My Words entries, the words the keyboard learned automatically, and the Persian options you have picked before — all three, not just the words you added yourself. (Snippets are not included in that file.) It goes through the system Files sheet, so you choose where it lands, and the matching Import merges a file like that back in. This only ever happens when you tap it, and Vazhe uploads nothing.

Learn tab progress

If you use the Learn tab, the app keeps track of how you are doing: which lessons you have finished and how you scored, which letters and words to bring back for review, how many days in a row you have practiced, and where a placement quiz started you. This stays on your device, in the app's own storage — it is not shared with the keyboard, it is not backed up to any account of ours, and it is deleted when you delete the app. Turning off keyboard learning does not affect it, because it is not built from your typing.

Feedback (only when you choose to submit)

When you open the "Send Feedback" form (from the About tab, or by flagging a result on the Translate or Read screens) and tap Send, Vazhe collects and transmits:

The feedback category you selected (Bug, Wrong prediction or translation, Suggestion, or Other)
The message text you wrote
Your email address, if you choose to provide one (optional)
Your app version and iOS version (e.g. "1.1", "18.5")
Device category: "iPhone" or "iPad" — not the hardware model string
Your device locale (e.g. "en_US")
The specific text you flagged or the missing word you reported — only if you chose to attach it (see "What you can CHOOSE to attach" below)

Why: to let the developer triage and fix bugs.

What is NEVER sent automatically: your typed text, your translations, your keystrokes, your contacts, your location, your name, the raw hardware model identifier, advertising identifiers (IDFA/IDFV), or any account information. Nothing you type leaves your device unless you explicitly attach it to a report, as described below.

What you can CHOOSE to attach: when you flag a specific translation or reading result, the feedback form offers an off-by-default toggle — "Include the text you flagged." If you turn it on, the specific text you flagged (up to about 120 characters) is included in that one report, and the form shows you exactly what will be sent before you tap Send. Reporting a missing dictionary word sends the word you report — that report is the word itself.

Anonymous device token: Vazhe generates a random identifier when you first install the app and stores it in your device's Keychain. The identifier itself is never transmitted. A SHA-256 hash of this identifier is included in the header of each feedback request as an anonymous device token so the developer can group multiple reports from the same device without identifying you.

Where it goes: feedback is transmitted to a Cloudflare Worker and stored as a GitHub Issue in the developer's private repository. GitHub (Microsoft) is a third-party processor for feedback data. The Worker does not log your IP address.

Retention: feedback is retained for the lifetime of the GitHub issue (until manually closed or deleted). To request deletion, email [email protected].

Limits: Vazhe accepts up to 10 feedback submissions per device per 24 hours (enforced by the server). The app also waits one minute between submissions to prevent accidental duplicate taps.

The keyboard extension

The Vazhe keyboard runs with Apple's most restrictive setting: it does not request "Full Access". This means iOS itself prevents the keyboard from making network connections. The keyboard and the Vazhe app share one private on-device store — that is how My Words, Snippets, and the learning toggle work — and nothing in it ever leaves your device or reaches any other party. What you type stays in the app you're typing in.

Children's privacy

Vazhe collects no data from anyone automatically. The optional feedback form is in the container app (About tab, or via flagging a result) and requires explicit user action; it is not accessible from the keyboard extension.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Vazhe changes the data it collects, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in plain language.
